Get to know the 2016 - 2017 PSSD board:
President: Brigitte Clark
Current 2015 - 2016 Year: Junior (3rd Year)
Major: Animal Science with a specialization in behavior
Favorite stress food splurge: boba and pasta.
Favorite animal: I would never have a favorite, but sea otters are very cute,
Favorite pick-up line: "You must be the speed of light, because time stops when I look at you"
If you could be a Disney character, who would you be and why:
I love Jane because she is a brilliant, brave, and outgoing!
What do you hope to bring to the club next year: I would like to bring more events centered around different career options, making connections and a community for applying to vet school, Q&A sessions with vet students, and ways to improve on your application. And lastly, I would also like to bring more participation events to this club to understand and celebrate diversity in the pre-vet field in order to give each other the support, tools and resources needed to continue on to vet school.

Vice President: Katie DeVore
Current 2015 - 2016 Year: Junior (3rd Year)
Major: Animal Science with a specialization in companion and captive animals
Favorite stress food splurge: Muddy Buddies. RiteAid, Safeway and Savemart were out one day and so I was desperate enough to make them from scratch. It cost me like $15. Ridiculous.
Favorite animal: I love all kinds of animals, but cattle and cats will always have a (bigger) place in my heart. Cats are so sassy, cuddly and wonderful. Cattle are also shockingly cuddly and playful. Just call me the crazy cat/cattle lady.
Favorite pick up line: "Do you have a bandaid? Because I scraped my knee falling for you."
If you could be a Disney character, who would you be and why: Alice because most of the time I don't know what I'm doing in Wonderland (aka Davis).
What do you hope to bring to the club next year: I would love to collaborate with more student organizations on campus (SoDA, etc.). You can learn a lot, either diversity related or academics, from other student organizations. It's worth connecting with them. I also really love the One Health aspect of veterinary medicine and I hope to incorporate that into more events. Lastly, I really want club members to make connections within PSSD. I've met some pretty amazing people this year (you know who you are!) and hopefully we can have more socials! YAY. But, I'm super excited for next year and I can't wait to share all of the events that we have planned for you.

I hope to bring more interest to the club and its goals, so that PSSD can grow both in terms of members and activities offered. Personally, I offer my companionship to everyone in the club and I look forward to being part of this great community! I might also bring food to meetings...

Resources Coordinator: Kaitlyn Yapjoco
Current 2015 - 2016 Year: Junior (3rd Year)
Major: Animal Science with a specialization in zoo, exotics, and laboratory animals; minoring in Environmental Toxicology
Favorite stress food splurge: Kettle Brand Krinkle Cut Potato Chips: Salt & Fresh Ground Pepper (they have a lemony zesty goodness). Oh, and powdered sugar donuts.
Favorite animal: Red Panda
Favorite pick-up line: "Hey girl, mind if I walk you home? Mom always told me to follow my dreams."
If you could be a disney character, who would you be and why:
I'd probably be Russell from the movie Up, because I love to go on adventures and I'm an explorer (and foodie) at heart. I'm always willing to help others no matter the cost. ADVENTURE IS OUT THERE!
What do you hope to bring to the club next year: As the resources coordinator, I hope to help all of our members become more well-rounded, informed students. I want to expose them to different workshops and events that cater to a holistic approach. Of course, enhancing our preparation for vet school is a priority, but as students and members of the community, we should also be aware of pertinent social issues. I'm excited to help organize fun and meaningful events for y'all!

Kim Possible; Kim is strong, independent, and manages to save the world while still looking cute. Her cargo pants are great, and so is her strong sense of compassion and dedication to justice.
What do you hope to bring to the club next year:
I hope to use my well-developed interpersonal communication skills to foster conversation between PSSD members and their mentors. I love reaching out to new people and I will gladly contact Vet students, professors, or anyone who could enrich our club! I can't wait to work with members in small groups and get to know everyone in our club. Working together with board members and club members alike, I think we can all make the PSSD mentorship program an awesome experience!

Public Relations: Saralee Iturriaga
Current 2015 - 2016 Year: Junior (3rd Year)
Major: Animal Science with a specialization in companion and captive animals
Favorite stress food splurge: cereal with milk
Favorite animal: Wolf and leopard (I can't choose one)!
Favorite pick-up line: "Are you a camera? Because every time I look at you I smile."
If you could be a Disney character, who would you be and why:
If I could be a Disney character, I would be She-go from Kim Possible because she is very sarcastic and laid-back, but she is also physically powerful.
What do you hope to bring to the club next year:
One of my biggest goals for next year as a PSSD officer is to really emphasize supporting diversity in the pre-vet/vet-med field. I want to encourage pre-vet students who may be of underrepresented communities to join PSSD and come together to work towards their common goals. I also want to help create a space in which the members of PSSD feel encouraged to learn about other cultures, communities, etc. As publicity officer, it is also my goal to bring a lot of support and funding so that we are able to provide resources to pre-vet students.

Historian: Kelli Chan
Current 2015 - 2016 Year: Sophomore (2nd Year)
Major: Animal Biology
Favorite stress food splurge: Hot Cheetos
Favorite animal: Koalas
Favorite pick-up line: "Are you a parking ticket? Cause you got FINE written all over you."
If you could be a Disney character, who would you be and why:
I would be sleeping beauty because she gets sleep... which is something I really need right now.
What do you hope to bring to the club next year: I hope to help the club continue to expand and reach out to more pre-vet students by publicizing the club. As historian, I want to help show off the club and its AWESOME members by posting tons of photos and updating the website regularly. I think it's important not only to expand the club, but also to make sure all the current members are happy and engaged in the club and with each other. I would like to aid in setting up more socials so hopefully all the members can get to know each other better and we can just be one big happy family!
