If you were not there at the informational meeting tonight (April 12), here's a little recap of what a board position entails and the specifics of each position.
A little side note, only existing board members/assistants can run for President and Vice President, but there are 7 other opportunities up for grabs.

General Officer Duties
Expectations
- Be self-motivated: Officers should require little push to do their expected duties. Officers should require little reminding of what they should be doing.
- Be self-sufficient: Being an officer means being a leader. Officers should not be baby-sat and told what to do. Officers should use best judgment with minimal instruction.
- Think outside the box or think of things that you would want to hear/see/do as a pre-vet at the #1 vet school in the world
- Using best judgment saves time (Instead of asking)
President (Position not available)
- Coordinate officers – assign event duties and responsibilities as needed
- Organizing events and ideas – in charge of deciding calendar dates and approving/veto-ing event ideas
- Main contact for club
- Coordinating with Knights Landing Clinic
- Maintaining relations with other clubs
- Workshops and coordinate VOICE club
Vice President (POSITION NOT AVAILABLE)
- Assists the president in facilitating member/officer meetings and events
- Supervise officers in event planning – make sure event planning for each event coordinators are going smoothly. Ask each officer for updates as needed.
- Scheduling rooms for events and meetings, reserving tables
- In charge of Dog Show
Secretary
- Responsible for writing the meeting minutes, action list, and updating Google Calendar
- Updating the list-serve weekly
- Will collaborate with event coordinators to reserve the proper room for the specific event setting
- Assist VP in making workshops, communication between officers and contacts, and other events go smoothly
- Send information to the listserv
- In charge of setting up officer meetings
Treasurer
- Responsible for allocating the club's funds for events, and organizing fundraisers.
- Grants or other financial opportunities.
- Mandated to organize 2-3 fundraisers per quarter
- Must be a SoDA organizer and plan to attend SoDA meetings (on Tuesdays from 6-7PM)
Publicity Coordinator
- Responsible for recruiting new members and advertising our club's events (“Class of” and major related Facebooks)
- In order to create/designing flyers the publicity coordinator will collaborate with the officer organizing each event.
- In addition, the publicity coordinator will email various listserves to publicize our events
- Compiling emails to send out
- Writing announcements for the club (each week, biweekly)
- Comfortable with writing
historian
- Club's website and blog (writing stories about events to publicize to the rest of the club - to show we had a ton of fun)
- Facebook (to post pictures)
- Taking pictures of events, fieldtrips, and workshops to post on Facebook and blog
- Comfortable writing
External relations coordinator
- Invites guest speakers such as vet students, veterinarians, and/or anyone involved in the field of veterinary medicine. These guests will share with our members about their path to veterinary school, and the field of veterinary medicine.
- Second Contact for workshops
Mentorship Coordinator
- Small groups coordinator: Responsible for grouping pre-vet students (mentees) with veterinary students (mentors) during Fall Quarter. The mentorship coordinator will oversee how mentor-mentee interactions are going, and will organize events to foster these relationships.
- Organize Vet Student Speed dating event
- Organize socials with vet students (1 per quarter)
- Remain in contact with Surgery club
Resources coordinator
- Organize events in order to enhance our member's preparation for veterinary schools' application process (application/resume/interviews etc) WITH campus resources.
- Organize events with guest speakers such as the Pre-Vet advisor, or admissions directors to speak about the application process.
- Organize events with on campus programs to promote relevant issues including but not limited to: Financial Aid, Mental Health, LGBTQIA, Undocumented, Diversity, Food Insecurity
- Actively seek out resources for undergrads including open internships and jobs, opportunities, scholarships and grants, events
- Must be a SoDA organizer and plan to attend SoDA meetings (on Tuesdays from 6-7PM)
- Mandated (1 event per quarter)
- In charge of organizing VMCAS FB
