And now introducing (drum rolls please) … our 2016-2017 PSSD Board Assistants! These dedicated individuals have contributed their time and effort alongside our officers to help manage the club since day one. And in case you have not met them yet, here is a chance for you to learn a little bit about each one of our lovely assistants this year. If you happen to see them at any PSSD meetings, socials, or events, you are always welcomed to introduce yourself to them and get to know them more or even ask them any questions you may have regarding the club.
Josefina nordenstahl
Current Year: Sophomore
Major: Animal Science
Favorite Stress Food Splurge: Boba Tea
Favorite Animal: Elephant
Favorite pick up line: "Are you my appendix? Because I have a funny feeling in my stomach and I need to take you out."
If you could be a Disney character, who would you be and why: If I could be any Disney character I would be Jasmine because I would love to hang out with a tiger all day.
What do you hope to bring to the club this year: I hope to bring my passion for helping underserved communities to the club.

Julia cohen
Current Year: Sophomore
Major: Animal Biology
Favorite stress food splurge: Chicken tikka masala, any fruit, and anything my Ukrainian grandmother makes for me!
Favorite animal: I really love all animals, but I am known to be obsessed with cats. :)
Favorite pick-up line: "Are you my appendix? Because I have a funny feeling in my stomach that makes me feel like I should take you out."
If you could be a Disney character, who would you be and why: Winnie the Pooh, because the Hundred Acre Wood looks so beautiful! And when I was little I desperately wanted to know what "hunny" (not honey) tasted like.
What do you hope to bring to the club this year: I want to continue growing our community of pre-vets, vet students, and veterinarians. I also want to help strengthen bonds between PSSD members and the board, so all members (especially new ones) can feel more comfortable and excited about coming to socials and events!

KAREEN MENDOZA
Current Year: Junior
Major: Animal Science Companion Animal Specialization
Favorite stress food splurge: cookies️
Favorite animal: alpacas!
Favorite pick-up line: "If you were a chicken, you would be impeccable."
If you could be a Disney character, who would you be and why: Mulan! She's so fierce and determined!
What do you hope to bring to the club this year: I hope to bring more resources for any kind of background, a more comforting feeling within the club (allowing everyone to feel like they can trust us all; like a family!), diversifying the vet field for sure, and letting students who are undocumented (like myself) know that we can do anything. There's no limit for us and we too can make it to vet school.

carolina gomez
Current Year: Senior
Major: Animal Science, emphasis in Physiology (with a minor in Chicana/o Studies)
Favorite stress food splurge: Ben & Jerry's Coffee Coffee BuzzBuzzBuzz
Favorite animal: Elephants
Favorite pickup line: "If I could rearrange the alphabet, I'd put U and I together."
If you could be a Disney character, who would you be and why: I would be Belle because she is kind, open minded, and outspoken. Also, her dress is super cute.
What do you hope to bring to the club this year: I hope to bring a different perspective to the club. I am an undocumented student, which means I was born outside of the US and do not have a visa. I have had to overcome many hurdles because of my immigrant status (read: and I still am), but I am determined to pursue my dreams of becoming a veterinarian. Ultimately, I want to share my story with others and help people realize that no matter what's going on in their lives, it is possible to persevere and achieve their goals.
